The island doesn't reward a short visit.
Most getaways are built for two nights. You arrive, take your pictures and are back home before you know it. Kangaroo Island is six times the size of Singapore — two nights is just simply rushing.
Night one
Crossing the water does something
Forty-five minutes of open water, then a country road through long golden grasses. A fire laid, olives, a bottle of island red. You fill the stone bath outside and watch the light go over the ocean, and don't do anything else that night.
Day two
The mornings belong to the kangaroos
Slow down over breakfast, take a long walk across Snelling Beach and come back to light the indoor fire and read that book you've been saving.

This is the one
Nothing's been added and the days have just lost their edges. The third is the one that does the work, so we take 20% off to make it the easy choice.

How far is it from Adelaide?
A 30-45 minute flight from Adelaide to Kingscote, or a 45-minute vehicle ferry crossing from Cape Jervis.
