⸻ The pod
One bearing,
straight out to sea.
A one-bed pod fixed on the horizon, Pyxis takes the sea as its whole subject. From the deck the water opens out in both directions, uninterrupted.
The fire is on, the bed is turned to the full height glass, and the outdoor stone bath sits where the view is widest.
Come for the single-minded stay. It's the ocean by day, the sky by night, and a compass that only ever points one way.

⸻ The hero of the pod
Watch the
ocean roll in.
Pyxis is a view first and a pod second. The outlook spans a full half-circle of South Australian water, so wide you turn your head to take it in. Sit with it long enough and it becomes the whole day. The swell coming in, the light moving across it, the horizon holding steady while everything else lets go.
Stop. Listen. Breathe.

See the island,

Some of what Wander offers is on the doorstep and the rest is within an easy drive. See all of it, or none of it. Both count as wandering.

⸻ Three more pods on the coast
If Pyxis isn't yours,
one of these will be.
Four WanderPods® overlooking Snelling Beach. Each named after constellations found only in southern skies. Same land, same quiet, different pods for different stays.
⸻ Practicalities
The small print, made simple.
Everything you’d reasonably ask before booking. If we've missed anything, the Wander team are available on the phone or email and you'll speak to a human, not a chatbot.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, there’s Wi-Fi included at each pod. There are no televisions, by design, to help you disconnect by choice. Most Wanderers tell us the quiet was the best part about their stay.
What's not included in the pod?
By design, the pods don't include televisions or microwaves as well as any high-power electrical devices such as irons, hairdyers or toasters. You can not charge your electric vehicle at the pod.
Can we bring our dog?
If you’re travelling with your dog, Vela WanderPod welcomes them with space to run around and puppy amenities are included.
How do we get there?
From Adelaide, Kangaroo Island is a short 45 minute flight to Kingscote. Hire a car from the island airport and make the ~50min drive west to the pods.
If you are driving from Adelaide, you'll make your way south through McLaren Vale on a 1.5hr drive to Cape Jervis. The SeaLink vehicle ferry takes ~45mins to get to Penneshaw Jetty on the island. From there, head west for a 1hr 20min drive to the pods.
No matter how you arrive, we suggest booking your transport early as both flights and the ferry sell out quickly, particularly in the summer.
What about food?
There are two ways. You can opt to add on a locally sourced pantry box and wine selection from the region so the fridge is full before you arrive. You can add this on at the time of booking your pod or closer to your stay.
Otherwise, you can opt for us to keep the pantry clear for those who prefer to shop and explore the cellar doors themselves.
Both options include tea, coffee and local full cream milk.
Children?
Vela is the larger pod and better suited for families with 2 king beds. Pyxis, Columba and Carina are better suited for couples. If you require a travel cot, please ask our team and we can accommodate.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation and changes up to 30 days before arrival. Full details confirmed in the Booking T&Cs here.
