How many people can stay in a WanderPod?
A 1 Bed / 1 Bath WanderPod sleeps 2 adults, and 2 Bed / 2 Bath WanderPods sleeps 4 adults. All bedrooms have King Beds (no splits or sofa beds). You are welcome to bring your own cot for infants.
Can I cook for myself in a WanderPod?
Absolutely. The WanderPods have outdoor gas BBQs and kitchens with gas cooktop. There is also an underbench fridge to keep your local produce fresh, and basic supplies such as olive oil, salt and pepper. There are no ovens, microwaves or dishwashers in the kitchenettes.
The WanderPod is “off grid,” what does this mean for my stay?
It means that all of the electricity and most of the water you will use during your stay is captured and stored by the WanderPod. We ask that you consume these resources modestly, and help us approach zero waste operation by limiting the use of single use plastics. The Pods are equipped with an advanced waste water management system, with a normal flushing toilet. For more information on the WanderPod off grid systems, visit our design page here.
Are the WanderPods kid friendly?
Yes! Kids thrive in nature and they have a wonderful way of drawing us out of our comfort zone to explore and play in it. There is no bedding provided other than the king beds, so you’ll need to bring your own cot for infants. A stay with Wander is a wonderful opportunity to carve out some quality family time, we hope to see you soon.
Are the WanderPods close to each other?
They are spaced out to give you visual and acoustic privacy from other guests. In some cases, this may mean a fair walk or even a drive between Pods. Check out the site map at your location for more details.
Are there WanderPods that are wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately not. Due to the remote location, natural terrain and small footprint of the pods, we are unable to offer fully accessible rooms at the Scenic Rim. We are working on developing accessible rooms for our future sites, please stay tuned.
Are the WanderPods close to the cellar door?
The WanderPods are a 3-5km or 5min drive from the cellar door. Check out the site map for more details.
Cellar Door opening hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 1100-1400: Full wine tasting options with a limited menu including cheese and antipasto boards, desserts and coffee.
Saturday and Sunday 1000-1600: Full menu available. Special dietary restrictions catered for. Other days and evenings by appointment. Note: Live music EVERY Saturday & Sunday – 1200-1600
Is there air conditioning?
As this uses up a significant amount of energy, there is no air con in the WanderPods. However, the WanderPods are designed with excellent thermal properties – with double glazing and hoods shading the windows. You can open the front and rear sliding doors and windows to take advantage of the cool breeze coming from the lake and there are ceiling fans to keep the air moving when it’s still. There’s a slow combustion wood heater in the pod too – so cold won’t be an issue (firewood provided)
Is there a TV?
Everything about the WanderPod and your guest experience is designed to create a space for connection to your self, to each other and to nature. TVs rarely help here, so we decided to leave them out. Each WanderPod has a Bose Bluetooth speaker for your favourite tunes.
Are WanderPods tiny houses?
WanderPods are designed to be comfortable for a long stay in the wilderness. A 1 bedroom Pod is 43m2 with an additional 15m of decking (a typical tiny house is about 15m2). They have a walk-in shower and flushing toilet, kitchen and room to lounge. All Wander sites have Planning approval and state of the art off-grid solar and waste water treatment systems. So, no, WanderPods are not tiny houses.
