General FAQs

The WanderPods®

How many people can stay in a WanderPod?

1 Bedroom WanderPods sleep 2 adults.  2 Bedroom WanderPods sleep 4 adults. All bedrooms have luxury King Beds (no twin beds or sofa beds). You are welcome to bring your own cot for infants.

Can I cook for myself in a WanderPod?

Absolutely! The WanderPods have outdoor gas BBQs and kitchens with gas cooktops. There is also a fridge to keep your local quality produce fresh. Each WanderPod has and basic supplies such as olive oil, salt and pepper.  As WanderPods are powered by the sun, we are only able to offer some pods with ovens and dishwashers so please check beforehand.  Our pods don’t include microwaves or toasters.

The WanderPod is “off grid,” what does this mean for my stay?

It means that all of the electricity and most of the water you will use during your stay is captured and stored by the WanderPod. We ask that you consume these resources modestly, and help us approach zero-waste operations where possible. The Pods are equipped with an advanced wastewater management system, with a normal flushing toilet. For more information on the WanderPod off-grid systems, visit our design page here.

Is there generator back up?

Yes.  Being off-grid and relying on solar power may mean that a generator is needed during long periods of inclement weather.  The generators have been set to start and stop automatically when the power is low, however if this does not happen, you may be required to start the generator yourself.  Don’t worry if you haven’t used a generator before, clear step-by-step instructions are given and our team are here to help over the phone.

Are the WanderPods kid friendly?

Yes! Kids thrive in nature and they have a wonderful way of drawing us out of our comfort zone to explore and play in it. There is no bedding provided other than the king beds, so you’ll need to bring your own cot for infants. A stay with Wander is a wonderful opportunity to carve out some quality family time, we hope to see you soon.

Are there WanderPods that are wheelchair accessible?

As each location is very different, please check the location you would like to visit to see if there are wheelchair accessible WanderPods.

Is there air conditioning?

Some of our WanderPods include solar air conditioning, so please check before you book.  WanderPods are designed with excellent thermal properties – with double glazing and UV-rated blind system. Feel free to open the sliding doors and windows to take advantage of the natural breeze and there are ceiling fans to keep the air moving when it’s still.  As part of our commitment to off-grid luxury accommodation, ceiling fans are provided to keep the natural air flow in the Wanderpod.  In the colder months, all our WanderPods include a slow combustion indoor fireplace so you won’t feel the colder temperatures.  Firewood is provided.

Is there a TV?

WanderPods are designed to create a connection to the local environment.  TVs rarely help here, so we decided to leave them out. Each WanderPod has a bluetooth speaker for your favourite tunes and WiFi connectivity.

How do I use the Subpod compost system?

You will find simple instructions inside the lid of your Subpod on how to compost. Generally, any organic matter is great for composting (excluding dairy and meat).  Surrounding your compost area will be a fantastic variety of native edibles that you are welcome to use in your cooking.  For more information, check out the link here.
