Cold water, clear light, and the slow art
of getting in.
Wild swimming in the Scenic Rim begins, always, with the cold. There is a moment at the edge of the water — Mununjali Country, about ninety minutes south of Brisbane — where the body argues and the mind goes quiet, and then you are in, and the day rearranges itself around you. This is a slow guide to getting in: a handful of clear pools and creeks within reach of a WanderPod®, and the unhurried way to spend an afternoon at each.

The short version
- Five clear-water spots within an easy drive of the Scenic Rim pods, each suited to a slow half-day.
- Go early or late — the light is better and the water is yours.
- Distances, trail times and best months below are marked [TBC] for Cass to confirm against the live drafts.

Before you go in
Wild swimming asks for a little patience and a little respect. Read the water before you read your phone: where it moves, where it stills, where the bank gives way. Country here has its own weather and its own moods, and the same pool can be glass one week and running hard the next.
Tell someone where you are going. Go in slowly. Let the cold do its work — the gasp passes, the shoulders drop, and what is left is a kind of attention you do not get anywhere else.
01
The upper pool
A clear, unhurried pool that holds the morning light. Shallow at the entry, deeper at the far stone, and quiet enough most days to hear the bush wake up around you.

The wide reach
Where the creek opens and slows. Good for a long, easy swim and a longer sit on the warm rocks afterward. Best in the gold of late afternoon.

03
The falls pool
A short walk in, then a deep cold pool beneath falling water. The kind of place you remember in your body for days. Surer footing in the dry months.

The granite ledge
Flat stone that warms in the sun and a pool that stays cool beneath it. A spot for reading, for not-much, for getting in and out as the mood takes you.

The morning shallows
Closest to the pods, and the gentlest. Ankle-deep at the edge, waist-deep in the middle, and made for the first swim of a stay, before coffee, before anyone else is awake.

EARLY
The water doesn’t care that you had a hard week.
That is precisely the point.
How to spend the afternoon
Pick one. Resist the urge to chase all five in a day — that is a city habit, and it does not belong here. Drive out late morning, swim, dry off on the rocks, swim again. Bring less than you think you need.
Back at the pod, the wood fire and a stone bath finish what the creek started. The pods Joyce and Crumpet sit closest to the water; Moy, set a little apart, suits a solo stay built entirely around mornings like this.
Common questions
Is wild swimming in the Scenic Rim safe?
Generally, yes, with ordinary care. Check the water before entering, avoid swimming after heavy rain when creeks run fast, never dive into water you have not waded first, and go with someone. Conditions change with the season and the weather.
When is the water warmest?
The warmer months hold the gentlest water, though the clearest pools stay cool year-round. TBC — Cass to confirm best months per spot against the live draft.
How far are the swimming spots from the pods?
Most sit within a short, easy drive of the Scenic Rim pods. Specific distances and times are marked TBC above pending confirmation.
